Prepare to Make an impact
Serving on a nonprofit board is a great way to support a cause you care about in the community. In addition, it provides access to high-level networking, the ability to strengthen your project and team management skills and raise your profile in your company and your profession. The Young Professionals Auxiliary Board is a one year comprehensive board training program for young professionals interested in serving on a nonprofit board. The program will teach the skills needed to become an effective board member including the planning and execution of a YPAB event.
Attend monthly meetings that will alternate between workshops focused on nonprofit board service and planning of the Small Business University (SBU) event. A second year term is available in which you would be asked to lead the workshops focused on board service. The fee for this program covers tuition as well as your financial contribution to the organization and in this case your company will be included as a sponsor of the SBU event. Topics covered in workshops include: board governance, strategic planning, fundraising, financial management, board/CEO relationship, as well as a sixth workshop on selecting a board to serve.
Complete the candidate application no later than September 30, 2017. As with any board there is a need for diversity of skills, experience and work background. In order to create a representative board, all application responses will be taken into consideration. Meetings will be held monthly at the Chamber office on the 2nd Tuesday from 4-6pm starting January 9, 2018.
Please contact the Chamber at 215-362-9200 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
