The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County proudly celebrated the individuals and organizations making an extraordinary difference throughout our region during the 2026 Celebration of Community Awards. This event recognizes the leadership, innovation, service, and commitment need to build stronger communities. This year's celebration featured a panel discussion with each award recipient sharing with the audience ways they have collaborated with our community to create positive impact. We were honored that Beth Sturman, former Executive Director of 19 years at Laurel House, delivered the keynote and assist the Chamber in developing the panel presentation.

Corporate Citizenship Award: Altek Business Systems

Recognized for creating a culture where community engagement is part of the organization's DNA. Rather than directing volunteer efforts from the executive level, Altek empowers employees to identify the causes they care about most. From supporting nonprofits with technology and addressing food insecurity to mentoring youth and volunteering with animal rescue organizations, Altek demonstrates that businesses thrive when they invest in the communities where they live and work.

Hometown Hero Award: Chief Michael Trail

Honored for his outstanding service and leadership during his eight-year tenure as Chief of the Lansdale Police Department. Now serving with the Norristown Police Department, Chief Trail shared the three principles that guide his leadership: a commitment to strong processes, accountability through the belief that "Everything Matters," and building trust in every interaction. His message served as a reminder that trust is earned one conversation at a time.

Innovation in Action Award: Carol Bauer, COO & Founder of Garden of Health Inc.
The Chamber introduced a new award this year to recognize individuals turning innovative ideas into meaningful community solutions, became its inaugural recipient. Inspired by her daughter's celiac disease diagnosis, Carol created an organization that addresses food insecurity for individuals with dietary restrictions. What began as an eight-bed garden in Souderton has grown into a regional resource providing education, fresh food, and healthier outcomes for families across Montgomery County.

Community Service Award: Donna Richemond

Recognized for her dedication to creating a more inclusive and accessible community. Through her leadership and service, Donna champions the belief that communities are stronger when every individual has the opportunity to participate and contribute. As a member of the Chamber's Inclusion Committee, she helps lead the annual Rising Stars program and Minority and Small Business Summit, expanding opportunities for future leaders and entrepreneurs throughout our region.

Executive Director Leadership Award: Keith Sterling, former Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity

Honored for his leadership while at Habitat for Humanity. Keith encouraged businesses to recognize that community impact is not one-size-fits-all. By connecting volunteer opportunities with people's skills and passions, he has demonstrated that meaningful partnerships can transform communities. As he shared during the panel, "90% of the people you talk to want to help, they just don't know how." Strong partnerships between non-profits, business professionals who align with your mission and the residents within our community pave that path forward.

The Celebration of Community Awards reflect the Chamber's mission to connect community and regional businesses while recognizing those who lead with purpose, inspire collaboration, and create opportunities for others. Together, these five honorees remind us that stronger communities are built through leadership, innovation, service, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
